Our Story

How it all started

Arroo Coffee

Established in 2021 by husband and wife team, Damien & Sandra Walsh. Having worked in business development and accounting respectively, we took the leap to open our own coffee company. We have a passion for quality coffee, the social elements of a coffee with friends, and an interest in travel and different cultures. It made sense to us that we start a coffee business to build our knowledge on the fascinating process from bean to cup. With our local west coast roasters we search for interesting taste profiles and sustainably-grown beans from small-scale farmers to bring you a truly delicious cup of coffee.

About the founders

Damien is an all round creative having worked as a film & TV composer for eight years. He is also a keen photographer/videographer. It has been a dream of his to apply all of these disciplines along with years of business development experience to a project he is truly passionate about, Arroo Coffee.

Sandra comes from a background in accounting specialising in early stage startups. Having welcomed our daughter Teagan into the world in 2020, Sandra used this as an opportunity to combine both her accounting background and love of coffee with being a stay at home Mom.

We elected to take a hands-on approach and really get involved in the whole process. From meticulously working with our roaster to find the right beans and fine-tune taste to our liking, collaborating with our designer to get the branding just right, and hand-labelling each package to perfection enjoying the process and seeing the fruits of our labour first hand (while trying not to drink all of this delicious coffee ourselves!)

What is Arroo?

The “Arroo” name comes from the beautiful location Damien & Sandra are living in Co Leitrim. The Arroo trail and Arroo Mountain (Sliabh Aradh) are right at their doorstep! The Arroo Trail offers stunning views of Arroo Mountain, Keelogyboy, Truskmore, Glenade Valley and out across to the Wild Atlantic Way at Mullaghmore.
